About

Welcome, I’m glad you’re here!

Homeschool Steward is the place where homeschool parents can come find resources and encouragement to teach and model godly stewardship for their kids.

I want this to be the homeschool parent’s one-stop shop for stewardship, financial literacy, economics, and career resources.

As they journey towards “Well done!” Here are some examples of the resources you will find here:

Encouragement from God’s Word about the how and why of good stewardship
Videos and blog posts teaching personal finance and investing lessons from the beginner to advanced
Information and reviews of common homeschool curriculums and books related to stewardship and personal finance
Information about state financial literacy graduation requirements
Conversations with Christians who are living out their faith in a wide range of careers
Lesson plans, worksheets, Bible studies, and other downloadable resources
Opportunities to connect with others on the journey

Mission

Equip homeschool parents with the tools, resources, and encouragement to confidently teach and model biblical stewardship to their kids.

Vision

To see our kids impact the world for Christ by maximizing their time, talent, and resources and one day train their own kids to do the same.

Prayer

That after running the race of faith we might enter Jesus’ presence and hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

The WHY Behind Homeschool Steward

I started Homeschool Steward because I have the same questions and desires that you do!

I want to equip my kids to thrive financially and professionally, but even more I want to launch them into a life-long adventure of faithful stewardship.

When I see Jesus one day I want to hear Him tell me “Well done!” and I want my kids to hear that too.

Occasionally, I have the privilege of teaching personal finance and stewardship to homeschool co-ops and other groups and directly serving homeschool families. I realized that many families could use some help and encouragement in this department.

I think God has equipped me to help and encourage you because I have walked in your shoes but I also have specialized training – in essence, I want to steward the skills and knowledge God’s given me to help you!

I am a homeschool dad. My wife and I are in the thick of it just like you are. Seven years ago we started homeschooling our four kids and we haven’t looked back.
(Actually, my amazing wife does 99% of our homeschooling, she’s a patient genius and a rockstar! Homeschool moms rock – dads, am I right?!)

But, when I’m not manning the principal’s office, I work as an advisor for a Christian financial planning and faith-based investing company. I’ve pursued specialized financial training as well as biblical financial training to grow personally and be better equipped to help others. I’ve also studied what the Bible teaches about stewardship and how it’s an indicator of our heart and our relationship with God.

Finally, I also serve as our marketing manager so I know how to build a website, create, and distribute content. Things that are necessary if I’m going to share what I know and encourage you!

God opened my eyes to this “sweet spot” – a financially knowledgeable homeschool dad who knows about marketing and knows other families could use someone in their corner

So if you’re looking for a fellow pilgrim to join you on your homeschool stewardship journey, let’s travel together. And may we all one day hear “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

More about me

My family lives in a smallish, rural town in Oregon. We’re an hour from the Pacific Ocean and 1.5 hours from the Cascade Mountains. We enjoy hiking, travelling, going to the beach and enjoying God’s creation. Pizza-movie nights and games are other favorites in our house. We are involved at a great church and a wonderful homeschool community.

Before moving to Oregon, we were missionaries for 6 years in West and North Africa. Global missions in still very close to our hearts and I have a special interest in Business as Mission.
